MOJO Home Repairs, Inc.  is proud to partner with ENERGY STAR and sponsor Home Performance with ENERGY STAR in Las Vegas, NV.

Home Inspections & Routine Maintenance will help Conserve on Energy Bills and Prevent Costly Home Repairs.  According to the Energy Star, governed by  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy recommend the following to improve your home’s efficiency and performance.

A. Sealing Air Leaks and Adding Insulation to stop the draft. Inspecting the areas of your home such as windows, doors, attic, etc. are absolutely necessary the  first steps to increase the energy efficiency and decrease your energy bill.

B. Improving Heating and Cooling Systems. Start by keeping your filters and vents clean.  Keep your cooling to 78-80 degrees in the summer and 68-70 degrees in the winter.  If your furnace or air conditioner is more than 10 years old, your contractor may recommend that you replace it with a unit that has earned the ENERGY STAR label.

C.  Sealing Ductwork. Be sure your ducts are in order to prevent costly heating and cooling from escaping or not getting to the appropriate areas.  Sealing leaks, making sure ducts are straight and properly connected, and insulating where needed, will greatly improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.

D. Keep the window weather stripping in good condition. Replace any deteriorated weather stripping.  If windows are old and drafty consider replacing your windows.

E. Upgrading Lighting, Appliances, and Water Heating Equipment. It is recommended to buy Energy Star labeled items.  Not to mention a possible tax credit.  Start with energy efficient bulbs and turning off unused appliances and chargers.  If the charger light is green it is time to unplug.

F. Installing Renewable Energy Systems. Once energy efficiency improvements have been made to your home, you could consider additional measures, like installing solar panels or a solar hot water system.
